“ True failure is… when you fail and you don’t learn your lesson”.

School is an institution that helps in educating us students. It is important because it teaches us about the world around us and prepares us with the tools we will need for future success in the job market. Outside of the classroom, we can also learn valuable lessons at school, such as enhancing social skills, behavior, work ethic, working for people they don't like, and gaining a sense of personal achievement.

In the 1st quarter of my Grade 10 life at Ilocos Sur National High School, I have learned a lot of things, aside from the things that we learn during discussions. First of all is that I discovered and learned a lot of things: new friends, new lessons in life, self discipline. Which I helped me to overcome the challenges that I, have experience this past quarter.

First of all, I discovered new friends and developed our relationships within each other. During the month of July our school celebrated the Nutrition Month with a theme “Kumain Ng Wasto At Maging Aktibo, Push Natin To!” where there is a jingle competition we called “Nutri-Jingle”. In this year’s jingle, the participants are the different mother clubs in our school where there will be 7 dancers from the Grades 7 and 8, and 8 dancers from Grades 9 and 10. I am the President of the Math Club and as a president I am there to support the dancers during their practices, although I am not always present because of training in the debate team, Though we loss, I was able to build as relationship with our club members and discovered new friends.

In this quarter I,ve experience a lot of struggles and problems. Especially in time management. I missed a lot of my classes because of my duties as a club president and during the preparation of the debate contest that we attended last July 25 where we garnered third place. At this time I’ve also been addicted in using mobile phone that made me harder to manage my time. I,ve also experience difficulties in budgeting my allowance because I always eat a lot.

I was able to overcome these challenges through disciplining myself. I was able to lessen my addiction in cellphone by spending some of my time in physical activities. I have also set my priorities that will always comes first before anything that I will do. I also learned how to stop my urge to eat a lot of food.

Moving on I will continue to enjoy my studies and learn a lot of things. I know that there is God who will always guide me in the things that I do. With the challenges that we experience there is always a lesson that we can learn. Always remember “ True failure is… when you fail and you don’t learn your lesson”.
